Wejherowo is situated in Reda-Łeba proglacial stream valley. The town is surrounded by afforested hills. From north, Wejherowo is enclosed by Darżlubski Forest, from south by Trójmiejski Park Krajobrazowy (Landscape Park of the aggregate of three neighbouring towns of Gdynia, Sopot and Gdańsk). 48% of the area of the town are forests. Forests consist of many tree species: beeches, pines, spruces, oaks, birches, larches, hornbeams, limes, maples. The undergrowth includes: hazels, alder buckthorns, European mountain ashes, junipers, hawthorns and mosses, ferns, lilies of the valley, bilberries, wild strawberries, sorrel and heather.
A careful observer will notice a dozing owl, that waits for the dusk. In spring, you can hear a nightingale singing. You will be enchanted by chaffinch's trill, tit's joyful singing and endless phrases of a robin. You can spot a nuthatch stealing by a trunk and a blackbird, that, in singing, competes with the nightingale and ferrets in the undergrowth.
In Wejherowo you can come across numerous monuments of the nature, which are situated in town and in an old, historic cemetery along 3 Maja street. Apart from the monuments of the nature, also ecological arable lands, which protect thicket meadows called "Nanickie Łąki" and "Nanicki Szuwar", are legally protected. Watershed area "Cedron" and ecologically important zone along Reda river are subjected to legal protection too.
The nature was extremely generous to the town of Wejherowo. The Wejherowo lands are rich in clean lakes, swift rivers, forest, mild slopes cut through by erosive valleys, clean air. In the centre of the town there is even a park.
The Wejherowo citizens take care of the environment. They are conscious, that only such attitude and commitment can ensure life in a neat and tidy surroundings. The inhabitants take part in selective waste collection. Children and the youth are acquainted with issues concerning ecological education. They take part in international ecological contests and campaigns. Wejherowo is a beautiful spot, where people live in harmony with the nature.
